Voss Resort
Voss Mountain has a skiing terrain of over 40 kilometres and is a perfectly groomed ski slope that caters to all skill levels. With 11 ski lifts, including a convenient gondola, the resort can accommodate up to 12,000 people per hour, ensuring minimal wait times and maximum time on the slopes. The gondola, conveniently located next to Voss Station, whisks you from the town center to the mountain in under 9 minutes, making it a green and convenient travel option.
Voss also has night skiing, which is open on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. 11 kilometres of the mountain are available, which includes a terrain park and runs with levels varying from green, blue, red and black.

Hemsedal Resort
The alpine resort of Hemsedal is just three hours north of Oslo and is one of the top ski resorts in Norway. The resort has over 47 kilometres of diverse tracks and has a remarkable elevation drop of over 800 meters. Not to mention, there are more than 50 slopes and 20 lifts, which makes this hill great for all skill levels.
If you are located in Oslo or Bergen, it is relatively easy to find transportation through many coach buses that run in winter.
One-day lift pass prices are still TBA
However last year the one day ticket for an adult was ($78), and unfortunately they do not have student discounts
Sunnmøre Alps
If you are an individual who is interested in backcountry skiing, Norway is the place for you! One of the most popular places is the Sunnmøre Alps, which are located just an hour's drive away from the town of Ålesund. If you have avalanche training and are a skilled skier, you can adventure through the Alps without a guide. However, it is highly recommended that you tour the backcountry with a professional guide. Finding a guide is pretty easy as long as you book it a couple of months in advance and are prepared to spend a couple hundred - thousand dollars depending on how long your trip is.
If you are already in Norway, it is pretty easy to travel to Ålesund. You can fly from Oslo or other transportation such as bus, train or car.
Here is one good company that offers a weekend long guide in Sunnmøre if you want to take your skiing to the next level
Suppose you are a beginner and want to expand your knowledge on ski touring and learn all about avalanche safety. In that case, this website offers a great course at a reasonable cost of $267 per day (this does not include accommodations or transportation). Pawel (the guide) offers ski touring in multiple different mountains in Norway, including Sunnmøre and Hemsedal, which was talked about earlier in the blog post.
Joining outdoor clubs in Norway!
If you are looking for new ways to make friends while on exchange in Norway and want to meet people interested in the outdoors, the BSI Friluft Club is a perfect fit.
This club offers a wide range of outdoor activities you can attend if you are a member ($25 a year). In terms of Skiing, they run monthly skiing trips that are run by university students. In addition, by joining the club, you get access to discounts at Outdoor Bergen, courses run by guiding company Wildvoss and much more!
